DigiGirls is a training program organised in partnership with the UK Foreign Development and Commonwealth Office. We launched the DigiGirls program in response to the findings of a comprehensive study that identified the specific needs and challenges faced by women and girls in underserved communities regarding digital skills, employability, and entrepreneurship.
The program particularly targeted adult females living in underserved communities in Nigeria, needing reskilling and job hunting, out-of-school female youths, girls, and women in underserved communities. This program improved the socio-economic well-being of 76,000+ girls and women (15-40 years old) living in underserved communities in Nigeria, by empowering them with employable digital skills through hands-on training, mentorship, internship/job placement, or entrepreneurship opportunities.
The program was conducted in three distinct cohorts, with each cohort scaling its approach for greater impact. During the training, beneficiaries are exposed to computing and cybersecurity fundamentals, and digital entrepreneurship skills, and upon choosing a desired career path, hands-on skills training by industry experts.
