“A journey from Aspiring Data Analyst to Skilled Data Proffessional”
GLORY OGHENEOCHUKO AWHAIRE’S
“My first inspiration to apply to the DigiGirls program was the realization that the world is evolving into the tech era. I told myself that I was going to evolve too and learn a tech skill, as that is what is in high demand. Coupled with the fact that I love what challenges me mentally and makes me apply my analytical skills. Another inspiration is the numerous job opportunities available in tech, flexibility, and job security. With tech, I can also work from the comfort of my home while giving my best to the job.
I learned about DigiGirls from one of my WhatsApp contacts. I quickly jumped at the opportunity, took the test, and got a slot. I was excited, as my dream of becoming a data analyst was about to be actualized. Digigirl’s program was just God-sent.
The two biggest challenges I faced during the program were light issues and data. I had to always stay back at my place of work after closing hours just to study the LMS and do my projects before going back home because light was an issue in my area. I was determined to go through the journey despite all odds. Another issue was data, but thankfully Team Canada from Small World came to my rescue. I’m truly grateful for their support on this journey.
Thanks to the DigiGirls program, I now have an advanced knowledge of Excel and SQL. I can now work around data, and it won’t seem strange to me. I am also able to visualize my findings and insights. My knowledge of Excel is helping me in my current job role as a company secretary, where I have to arrange the files and data of our clients. All the information is arranged in Excel, and I can easily look up any data I need to work on.
Life after DigiGirls training has been amazing. I have also taken up more online courses to keep improving myself. I am super grateful to have been part of the 2023 cohort.
Thank you to all the amazing people who made this training a success.
Thank you, Cybersafe Foundation.”
